ABOUT JESSY FURY
THE STORY SO FAR
Los Angeles based singer-songwriter Jessy Fury and his band The Sound ignite stages with electrifying performances fueled by raw energy and emotional depth. With a sound blending rock and roll grit with the allure of new wave synthesizers, his songs are full of longing, rebellion and emotional authenticity.
Music became a passion for Jessy early in life. After attending a concert at the age of nine, inspiration struck like lightning and he quickly began learning to play the guitar and constructing his own songs. His grandfather, Bob Toten, was the lead singer of the Pastel Six known for their popular song “Cinnamon Cinder” which was a top 40 single on the Billboard charts in 1963. As a young child, Jessy was deeply influenced by both his grandfather and his mother, Stacia who was also a singer. She would take Jessy to her recording sessions and those experiences would further cement his passion for music.
Jessy was accepted to attend the prestigious Wildwood High School in Los Angeles known for its music program. Some of his classmates included Frances Bean Cobain and Indio Downey. Known as “the boy in black” at his school he excelled at the music program but had disciplinary problems and was nearly expelled.
Soon his childhood talent for performing would lead him to be invited to share the stage and play opening slots for a number of notable artists including Pat Benatar, 5 Seconds of Summer, Stevie Wonder, Chris, Issac, John Legend, and the Driver Era.
As word of his talent spread in Los Angeles, he was signed by Island Records in the United Kingdom. He was flown to London to pursue recording a pop album, but soon Jessy’s streak of independence began to clash with the major label system. Within two years, Jessy was dropped by his management company, his label, and eventually his publisher.
Undeterred, he continued writing songs and playing shows as an independent artist. A chance encounter with producer and songwriter Xandy Barry led to a friendship and collaboration. The two had met briefly when Jessy was 16 years old but hadn’t spoken since. Joined by veteran producer Wally Gagel the three began working on recordings at the legendary WAX LTD Studios in Hollywood where Neil Young, The Doors, and Jimi Hendrix recorded in the 1960’s. In early 2024, Fury began performing alongside bandmates Emily Lauren, Aubrey Harris, and Declan O'Raidy as Jessy Fury and The Sound. In April of 2024, Jessy and his band were invited to play live for the NHL playoffs at the Crypto.com Arena. His first single “The Other Boys,” was released independently on July 12, 2024. On July 18th, 2024 “The Other Boys” won the best song award at the Hollywood Independent Music Awards in Los Angeles.
Soon after releasing “The Other Boys” independently, the British press took notice and began to write stories. In August of 2024, Fury was interviewed by FAULT magazine. More interviews ensued -when asked about his music and his shows Fury offered his perspective: “When you go see Jessy Fury and the Sound we love music and each other on stage and you can feel that.” he shared. Pouring his “body and bones” into his live shows, his passion is to have audiences feeling empowered and inspired.
